Going tribal


These half-barrel shaped houses are home to the Todas, an indigenous tribe in the Nilgiris. A small pastoral community, they live in packs of three to seven and each mund(settlement) has a dairy temple. Though now a lot has changed and only a few houses remain, the rest being transitioned to brick and mortar ones.
